Mexico, Oct. 12 (Notimex) .- In August 2017, the country's industrial production increased by 0.3 percent in real terms compared to the previous month, based on seasonally adjusted figures, its highest rise in the year and the highest for the same month since 2015.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI, for its acronym in Spanish) reported that by components, manufacturing industries grew 0.5 percent and construction 0.3 percent; while Mining decreased 2.3 percent and Electricity Generation, transmission and distribution, water and gas supply by pipelines to the final consumer fell 0.5 percent in August.
In its annual comparison, industrial production showed a reduction of 0.6 percent in the eighth month of this year, which linked three months with setbacks at annual rate.
By sectors of economic activity, Mining fell 9.6 percent, Construction fell 1.5 percent and Generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water and gas supply by pipelines to the final consumer fell 0.5 percent; while manufacturing industries rose 3.1 percent in August compared to the same month in 2016.
The INEGI reported that with original figures, in August of this year industrial production decreased 0.5 percent compared to the same month of 2016, its second fall at annual rate.
By components, manufacturing industries rose 3.3 percent, while Mining decreased 9.7 percent, Construction fell 1.6 percent, and Generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water and gas pipeline to the final consumer fell 0.6 percent.
