Mexico, Nov. 10 (Notimex).- The head of the Economic Planning Unit of the Finance and Public Credit Ministry, Luis Madrazo Lajous, was appointed vice president of the Economic Policy Committee (EPC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
In a deliberative process among EPC delegates, they took into account the experience and qualifications of Madrazo Lajous to replace Dave Ramsden of the United Kingdom.
The appointment of the head of Economic Planning is compatible with its current functions, and it is customary for this type of forums to choose high-level officials and proven knowledge of the member countries in this assignment, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry.
The EPC is the main collegiate body within the OECD and is composed of delegates from the 35 member countries. Within the EPC, Madrazo Lajous belongs to the Bureau, the most important decision-making group within the Committee.
Luis Madrazo Lajous has a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM, for its acronym in Spanish), and holds a Master's and PhD degree in Economics from Yale University.
