Monterrey, Mexico, Nov. 10 (Notimex).- The American Concrete Institute (ACI) distinguished the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL, for its acronym in Spanish) as an international reference in the teaching and implementation of the subject in concrete technology.
The ACI awarded this distinction by handing out the banner of "Excellent University" to the UANL, which receives it for the seventh consecutive time, and which is one of the three universities in the world who have achieved this recognition in Mexico, along with two others in the United States.
"The American Concrete Institute is the highest authority on this issue in the world and for a long time has been concerned about students", said Professor and researcher at the School of Civil Engineering of the UANL, Alejandro Durán Herrera.
"Thanks to what teachers and students do in concrete technologies and structural design with concrete, consecutively we have achieved recognition", he said.
He mentioned that through the promotion of seminars, conferences and technical visits of the ICA to the Institute of Civil Engineering of the UANL, the Student Section in Northeast Mexico, stands out for having young people capable of establishing the best proposals for concrete.
"We have a very complete program in the area of Concrete Technology. The Faculty is distinguished internationally for the strength of its programs in this area", said the head of the Department of Technology of Concrete.
He stressed that one of the objectives of the American Concrete Institute is to bring the best knowledge to future civil engineers, so that they give the proper handling to the concrete when they develop professionally.
He stressed that "new knowledge is emerging every day and, through these agencies, what is intended is that this knowledge reaches the future civil engineers as quickly as possible".
