Monterrey, Mexico, Jun. 12 (Notimex) .- A delegation of 16 high school students from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL, for its acronym in Spanish) will represent Mexico the International Robotics Tournament Robocup Montreal 2018, from the June 16 to 21.
The UANL Robotics coordinator, Erick Sánchez Flores, indicated that the students developed various robots to participate in rescue and performance categories, within the event in Canada, where four thousand competitors from 35 countries of the world will attend.
He stressed that for the seventh consecutive year, they will participate in the global competition and, for the first time, a delegation of the UANL integrated by three schools of the high school level.
It is the Center for Research and Development of Bilingual Education (CIDEB, for its acronym in Spanish), the Industrial and Technical High School "Álvaro Obregón" (EIAO, for its acronym in Spanish) and the High School 25 "Eduardo Aguirre Pequeño".
"We are very happy, because for this edition, we have the most teams and it is the first time that three schools of the same university travel to the tournament" said Sanchez Flores.
The Magistry team, from the Bilingual Education Research and Development Center and winner of the Mexican Robotics Tournament 2018, in the category: Rapidly Manufactured Robot Competition, will repeat for the second year in a row, highlighted the student, Brenda Elizabeth del Razo Urdiales.
"We are going to compete in the category of a model rescue robot and design it in 3D, as well as manipulation of objects and sensors," she said.
"All this is in order that we can upload designs and schedules to the Internet; and if a natural disaster occurs anywhere in the world, people with access to the network can enter our page and download everything we do for their help," she explained.
Likewise, the UANL will participate in the Onstage Advance category, through the representatives of the Industrial and Technical High School "Álvaro Obregón" and of the High School 25 "Eduardo Aguirre Pequeño".
These teams obtained in March the first and second place of the Mexican Robotics Tournament 2018, respectively.
"We are going to compete with five robots that each student worked on, and we focus on making them very interactive and fun with the audience; The robots are made up of LED strips, cameras and wood, "explained the student of the 25th High School, Alfonso Daniel Rodríguez Garza.
On the other hand, the student of the EIAO, Christian Jacinto Alvarado, indicated that "our main robot is an android, which fulfills the functions of emulating the psychomotor abilities of a human".
"Like our classmates at Preparatoria 25, we will participate in the Onstage category, which consists of doing a performance where the robot has an interaction with humans," specified the student of the technical career in Electronics.
At the International Robotics Tournament Robocup Montreal 2018, Flavio Guerrero Elizondo and Luis Gonzalo Morales García will also travel, as international judges in the competition.
