Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico, Jul. 11 (Notimex).- Mercedes Benz Autobuses announced that in the coming months it will introduce to the Mexican market public transport units that are one hundred percent electric.
The director of Sales, Marketing and Post Sale of Mercedes Benz Bus, Raul Gonzalez, revealed that the company is about to conclude the talks with the government of Mexico City, to replace the current electric transport or known as trolley buses.
In the framework of the Mercedes Benz Autobuses and Freightliner Post Sale 2018 summit, which takes place in this tourist destination of Guerrero, he said in an interview that the vehicle that the company will introduce for this purpose will be the eCitaro, which was presented in Germany.
He said that the buses will have an average of 150 kilometers autonomy and the recharge will be carried out in during the nights, while the possibility of recharging the units in a fast way.
That leads to focus in a different way, so now Mercedes Benz began to train and certify their technicians, since they will no longer be only mechanical, but will be mechanical, technical and electrical, he said.
"People are being trained worldwide and we in Mexico are talking very strongly with a customer to supply vehicles to the electric transport system in Mexico City and we are ready to bring them," he argued.
Also, he said, the launch of these new products will change the way they relate to suppliers, so it is expected to produce even some of the auto parts for new buses within the country.
Although they still do not know how many units the first stage of electric buses will have, the manager trusted that this project will be extended to other states of the country, in such a way that Mercedes Benz is ready to supply the country with sustainable mobility.
He remembered that for 124 years, in which Mercedes Benz put the first bus for the world, the company has worked to offer new and better solutions.
All this, he said, with the Case strategy of the company, which means connected vehicles, with telematic interaction to know the conditions of the vehicle and even the roads, autonomous vehicles, with multimodal services for the user and finally electrified vehicles.
