Sánchez Cordero to participate in López Obrador meeting with US officials

Mexico, Jul. 12 (Notimex).- Olga Sánchez Cordero, proposed to occupy the Ministry of Interior in the next federal administration, informed that this Friday she will participate in the meeting that will hold the winning candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador , with the high level delegation of the United States, in its offices in Colonia Roma.

He indicated that in the meeting with the Secretaries of State, Mike Pompeo; of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin; as well as Jared Kushner, advisor to US President Donald Trump, is expected to talk about issues such as migration, security, trade, cooperation for development and other issues of bilateral relations.

The meeting will also include the participation of the US State Department official, Paco Palmieri, as well as the head of national security, Kirstjen Nielsen and the charge of business of the US embassy in Mexico, William Duncan.

In another topic, Sánchez Cordero said that from the Senate of the Republic, will promote the Law of Early Will and the legal interruption of pregnancy until 12 weeks and although she acknowledged that they are controversial issues and that even divide society, it is important to promote said legislation, "is a human right to a dignified death."

In an interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, for Grupo Fórmula, she explained that with the document that people would prepare before a notary public they have the opportunity to choose whether or not to submit to means, treatments or medical procedures that intend to prolong their life when they are in a terminal stage.

"We could promote, promote through our deputies this law that seems to me very important, because a person decides how he wants medical treatment in advance, if he wants it, in a terminal stage; we must promote this human right to a dignified death," she said.

The former Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation said she will seek a permanent dialogue with the congresses of the states to promote both issues.

On the proposal to reduce salaries to high public officials, said that "if wages are reduced and they do not accept them a number of protections that may be appropriate will come."

However, she considered that "in the public administration we have to do this with austerity; Andrés Manuel is convinced of the republican austerity for those of us who want to participate in this new stage of Mexican history."

Sánchez Cordero expressed her concern for the safety of López Obrador, because "the car is already hit, its security is the stability of the Mexican state, maybe he is thinking of some civil security body."

Finally, she pointed out that the next administration will face enormous challenges in all areas, "but there they are" and will seek to move towards a moderate progressive left for the benefit of Mexicans.
