Mexico, Aug. 9 (Notimex).- President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke this morning with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, with whom he shared the points of agreement between both nations on the subject of climate change, human rights and transparency , informed Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, who is to become the next chancellor.
In an interview at the transition house, he said that they also talked about the cooperation projects that are ongoing and those that could be carried out in the coming years. He described this talk as a very good conversation, very warm, "that we appreciate very much".
He abounded that it occurred in the framework of a series of calls that have been received to congratulate the López Obrador family, after this Wednesday the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation gave him the certificate of president-elect.
Marcelo Ebrard explained that today, late in afetrnoon, Lopez Obrador will have communication with Michelle Bachelet, "who has been proposed to be responsible for the Office of the High Commissioner of the United Nations Organization in the field of Human Rights".
By the way, he said that the intention of the next government is to relaunch and expand cooperation and work with the United Nations (UN) in the global arena.
He highlighted something that López Obrador has said: "The best foreign policy is that you do things well in your internal policy," and said that in this regard they will make very important changes in the country regarding how to work for human rights.
He also announced that next week he would meet with the current head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE, for its acronym in Spanish), Luis Videgaray Caso, with the aim of initiating the formal transition by agreeing the calendars and dates for its execution.
Ebrard Casaubon said he will wait for the meeting to take place to find out what the organization of the unit is, "then I think we will find spaces to organize ourselves better" and reduce expenses.
