Mexico, Oct. 10 (Notimex).- The pharmaceutical industry is strategic and a priority for the economic development of Mexico, said the counselor of ProMexico in Spain, Erika Salazar.
She explained that this is why ProMexico takes six pharmaceutical companies to CPhI Worldwide, the most important trade fair in the world, and among them are the Association for Standardization and Certification, Center for Scientific and Clinical Studies Pharma, Lapisa, Neolsym, Research Unit in Health and Zurich Pharma.
The objective is to strengthen Mexican exports and co-investments in this sector during the meeting, which began last 8 and ends on October 11, she said in a statement.
"CPhI 2018 becomes a space that will allow Mexican companies to promote themselves as suppliers of solutions, contract manufacturers and services and will allow them to establish new business relationships after meeting with global partners," she said.
According to the report, Mexico is the second largest market in Latin America in the pharmaceutical industry and is an important producer of high-tech medicines, such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and cancer treatments.
For the National Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Canifarma, for its acronym in Spanish), the industrial sector has an annual production of 24 billion dollars, a figure equivalent to 2.6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It is estimated that only the pharmaceutical field produces 75 percent of the medicines in the country.
