Peña Nieto highlights advantages for Mexican field in the USMCA

(News flash)

Mexico, Oct. 11 (Notimex).- Mexico has a strong, productive and competitive field, with the necessary tools to continue growing for the benefit of the families of agricultural producers, said the President of the Republic, Enrique Peña Nieto.

During the inauguration of the 2018 Agroalimentary Global Forum, in Puebla, President Peña Nieto highlighted the achievements made with the United States, Mexico and Canada Agreement (USMCA United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), which will expand the advantages and benefits for domestic producers.

Peña Nieto stressed that the new trade agreement maintains preferential access to agricultural and livestock goods, which is crucial for Mexico; the proposal of seasonality that slowed down national exports was withdrawn; the Agricultural Committee is maintained, which will follow up on the commitments made and will constantly monitor progress in the agri-food field, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures will be strengthened.

The head of the federal executive acknowledged the sector and stressed that the achievements in terms of trade surplus, agri-food production and progress are the result of the work of producers and the modernization that has reached the Mexican countryside.
