Strategies reviewed to optimize nuclear energy generation

Mexico, Mar. 14 (Notimex) .- The General Director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE, for its acronym in Spanish) Manuel Bartlett Díaz, met with Russ Brian, director of the Atlanta Center, and Rob Gambone, Vice President of Corporate Performance of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), to review and establish strategies that help optimize the generation of nuclear energy in the country.

At the meeting, the directors of the CFE and WANO also reviewed the safety and performance indicators of the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant, which receives periodic visits from this Association in strict adherence to the best international practices, every two years, continuously since 1999.

The result of the evaluation of WANO to Laguna Verde in April 2018 consisted in informing the CFE that there are no significant events at the plant, and work is being done on joint programs to reach the highest levels of excellence, according to international criteria, according to a statement from the State's productive company.

With this purpose, the CFE will concentrate on carrying out actions in the short, medium and long term that will allow Laguna Verde to improve its safety and performance indicators, increase the reliability of its equipment and the effectiveness of its maintenance and engineering.
