Mexico, Mar. 19 (Notimex) .- The Mexican government expressed its solidarity with Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe for the loss of human lives caused by Cyclone Idai.
Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), in its Twitter account @SRE_mx, it also lamented the high number of victims and material damage caused by the cyclone.
The tropical cyclone, which caused heavy rains and winds of more than 170 kilometers per hour, made landfall in Mozambique on Thursday night and moved through that country to Zimbabwe over the weekend. The phenomenon has left more than a hundred people dead and the figure could grow as there are hundreds of missing persons.
According to information from the United Nations (UN), this cyclone could become one of the most devastating that has impacted Southeast Africa, estimating an affectation of 2.6 million people.
