And he also dismisses impunity
Mexico, May 2 (Notimex) .- After acknowledging that there are problems of violence against journalists, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that the labor union should be protected and impunity should be eliminated; and offered that "I can guarantee you freedom."
During his morning press conference and after the journalist Carlos Domínguez, son of a homonymous journalist murdered in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, asked him for justice in the case and that another communicator insisted on the matter, the president maintained that his government does not protect any alleged criminal.
He acknowledged that there is a problem of violence against journalists that should not be allowed; "Journalists must be protected and impunity must end," he assured, although he stressed that the act was committed during the last government.
Even, he was questioned that the person designated by the journalist himself murdered by a diversion of resources of one billion pesos and therefore as the probable mastermind of the homicide, has a sister who is now a candidate for plurinominal deputy by Morena for the Congress of Tamaulipas.
In this regard, President López Obrador pointed out that these are electoral issues "in which we are not going to get involved", although he insisted that there will be no impunity, whoever he may be; although he clarified that since his inauguration, he maintained that he will only be responsible for his young son, Jesús Ernesto, because he is a minor.
The president took advantage of the moment to inform that the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, will receive Carlos Domínguez Jr. this Thursday, as part of the commitment to guarantee the freedom of expression. "We are going to attend to this!" He added.
